The First Tee National School Program OBJECTIVES
- Create a safe introduction to golf for today’s students and teachers.
- Ensure that golf education meets the same national standards developed by the Society for Health and Physical Educators (SHAPE).
- Help students build character and confidence through the positive personal and social values associated with the game.
- Engage students in daily lesson activities that lead to development of basic golf motor skills
- Show students that golf can be a great lifelong recreation and health-enhancing activity.
- Make the positive values of golf a part of the classroom and students’ everyday lives.
COMPONENTS OF THE PROGRAM
The First Tee National School Program gives physical educators the tools to get started. We provide the training, equipment and lesson plans that integrate golf skills, motor skills, core values and healthy habits.

The First Tee National School Program gives physical educators the tools to get started. We provide the training, equipment and lesson plans that integrate golf skills, motor skills, core values and healthy habits. In Hawaii, there are three pricing models:
- The school purchases the program & equipment outright (Option 1)
- The First Tee of Hawaii has qualified for grant opposites subject to availability, to allow a school to purchase the equipment at a 50% discount. (Option 2)
- The First Tee of Hawaii wants all students to be exposed to golf, and has a limited number of sets available to be loaned to schools at no charge. (Option 3)

Option #1: 100% Funded by School
COST:
- Cost: $3,250
- Grant: $500 to first 30 schools in the State of Hawaii
- Remaining Cost: $2,750
Includes:
- 1 Full Set of Equipment: Clubs, Targets, and Balls (to teach up to 48 students per class)
- Online Training for all Teachers/Staff
- Curriculum Book with all Comprehensive Lesson Plans
Requirements
- Complete School Registration Form
- At least 1 Staff Member must Complete Online Training
- School owns equipment and curriculum and can use as desired (no minimum required program hours)
- Report # of Hours & Students participating in National School Program during the year
Option #2: 50% Funded by School
COST:
- Cost: $3,250
- Matching Grant: $1,625 (if Matching Grants are available. Based on availability)
- Remaining Cost: $1,625
Includes:
- 1 Full Set of Equipment: Clubs, Targets, and Balls (to teach up to 48 students per class)
- Online Training for all Teachers/Staff
- Curriculum Book with all Comprehensive Lesson Plans
Requirements
- Complete School Registration Form
- At least 1 Staff Member to Complete Online Training
- School owns equipment and curriculum after 12 program hours have been completed
- Coordinate at least 1 Golf Activity with The First Tee of Hawaii (on campus or off campus)
- Report # of Hours & Students participating in National School Program during the year
Option #3: NO FEE TO THE SCHOOL
COST:
- Cost: FREE
- School will be loaned equipment from the First Tee of Hawaii during Golf Classes.
Includes:
- 1 Full Set of Equipment: Clubs, Targets, and Balls (to teach up to 48 students per class)
- Online Training for all Teachers/Staff
- Curriculum Book with all Comprehensive Lesson Plans
Requirements
- Complete School Registration Form

- Equipment remains the property of The First Tee of Hawaii
- School is responsible for equipment while its in their care.
- Equipment subject to availability, number of sets is limited.
